Fox Village is a oneshot original comic about a girl visiting a fox village. She then works together with the foxes in the village to save it from evil fox criminals.

Summary:
Rescued by the kitsune (mythical foxes) when she was young, Sachi has always been in love with foxes. When she grew up, she goes to the Fox Village so she can live with them. Unfortunately, the village is overrun by evil foxes! Can she save the village with the help of the Fox Village guardian Kuro?

Fox Village is a comic I made right after I finished my comic Shanty. Shanty’s theme and atmosphere are quite heavy since they deal with despair and moving on in life. So next I wanted to make something lighthearted, bright and colourful. I also thought that it’s about time I make a comic about foxes since I love them. Combine all of that and you get Fox Village!
Fox Village Character Sheets
Sachi
A young girl who fell in love with foxes when one rescued her as a child. Determined to live with them, she travels a long way to get to the fox village. A cheerful and brave girl, Kuro’s warning that the village is currently full of dangerous criminals doesn’t scare her at all. She decides to help him bring peace back to the village.
Kuro
Kuro is one of the Tenko, powerful foxes who guard the Fox Village. Head of the Black Fox Division, he watches over the northern part of the village with his subordinates. Kuro lost his powers after a recent great war with the evil foxes, causing him to be frustrated that he can’t fight the criminals like he used to. Despite that, he’s determined to keep everyone safe.
Keisuke
Keisuke is Kuro’s second-in-command. Despite being a young fox, he does his job well and worries over Kuro. Easy to talk to, he’s ready to help anyone in need.
Gen
Gen is a powerful illusionist and one of the Yako, fox outlaws that wreak havoc in the Fox Village. He’s also the wanted leader of the criminal fox gang Oboro. Seeing the weakened Tenko as a chance to take over the Fox Village, he slowly increases his influence and hides his base with his illusion magic. Able to shapeshift into anything, he uses his abilities to trick people and do harm.
Grandma Fox
The landlady of the Genka Inn, the Fox Village inn Sachi is planning to stay in.

Side Characters and Background Design
Fox Village
The Fox Village is a village inhabited by the mythical foxes, the kitsune. The village is located in the Fox Mountain, found near to the ocean and far away from any human civilization. The foxes there live peacefully under their leaders, the five great Tenko. However, a recent war with the king of the outlaw foxes, the Yako, has led to the weakening of the Tenko. The surviving Yako see it as a chance to take over the village, wreaking havoc everywhere with no one to stop them.
Buildings of the fox village are easily recognizable by the ‘fox ears’ on their roofs. The village is also known to have a lot of shrines and scenic views of nature. Major landmarks would be the Fox Castle, the ancient shrine deep in the mountains and each Tenko’s headquarters. Local specialties include many tofu-based dishes such as the foxes’ favourite aburaage (fried tofu skin) and kitsune soba, whose creation methods the foxes originally learned from the humans.
Genka Inn
Genka translates as the ‘Mirage Flower’. Its crest is the Queen of the Night flower. The Genka Inn is a small inn run by a sweet grandma fox. Sachi plans on staying here when she arrives at the Fox Village.
Shrine Ruins
The ruins of an old shrine found in the Fox Village.
Alleys
Alleys of the Fox Village. The ones found at the outskirts are usually quiet with no one in it, stirring feelings of unease. With the Yako on the prowl, the villagers have learned to avoid these unsafe areas.
Black Fox Division Headquarters
The base of operations of the Tenko Kuro and his subordinates as they maintain law and order in the village. It’s located in the north of the Fox Village.
Oboro’s Hideout
The shrine-like hideout of the wanted outlaw, Gen. It’s located in a cave and has a lot of strange fox masks and statues. Gen uses his powerful illusion magic to hide the location of his hideout. By doing so, he and his men have successfully avoided detection and capture for a long time.
Shinoda Inn
A moderately-sized inn located in the busy area of the Fox Village. Kuro recommends this inn to Sachi as it’s located in a safe location, so she doesn’t have to worry about Yako attacks.
Trivia
- Kitsune, Tenko and Yako are foxes from Japanese mythology.
- The background design and buildings are based on ones from Japan’s Edo period.
- The traveling fox who helped Sachi when she was a child is actually Kuro’s elder brother Shiro.
- Kuro and Shiro star as the main characters in my other project ‘Fox Brothers’.
- I’ve also made a set of LINE Stickers based on Kuro and Shiro in their fox forms.
