Author’s Note:
Your pet Abyss Dragon is called ‘Colby’ in the English version and ‘Tantan’ in the Japanese version. I’m more used to Tantan, but since I’m writing in English, I’ll go with Colby~
These photos were taken on 9 May 2020. I took them with a story in mind, so I’ll just write them out briefly. Enjoy!
The baby Abyss Dragon Colby loves to take walks and see the world. Rhyme accompanies her around, Principal Anjou having entrusted him with her care. During one such walks, Colby says that she’d like to see Rhyme’s hometown, the Black Swan orphanage in Siberia. Rhyme, remembering how he have lost many loved ones when the place was bombed, feels a little unsure. But deep down, he misses home. A lot. So he agrees to take Colby there.
When they arrive, they find that a lot of the buildings has been lost to the fire. But to Rhyme’s great pleasure, the orphanage’s main gate and the building that house his room are still standing. He rushes in with Colby in tow.
A thick sheet of dust has settled on the floor and the shelves, but everything’s still the same as before the incident. It’s as if nothing has happened. It’s as if Renata, Vera, Anton and the others will just appear at the doorstep anytime. Colby seems fascinated by the things in the room, but Rhyme seems to be deep in thought.
Remembering how he’ll never meet his dear brothers and sisters again, Rhyme breaks down into tears. Colby cheers him up and tells him that they should go outside—the northern lights have appeared in the night sky.
Eventually calming down, Rhyme thanks Colby for being a wonderful friend. He knows that he’s not alone in this world. They discuss how they should enjoy the sights in Siberia the next day, planning their next trip happily.
