Report originally written in November and December 2020. Club travel log part 3! Last part. I’ll be writing about VVIP, Maple and Kusou Toshokan in this post!
VVIP (22 Nov – 28 Nov)
VVIP had been a major club in the Wind of freedom server since CDB was released in Japan, so I wanted to take a peek and chose it for my ninth club! Lia-san who joined Nidhogg for awhile was there, so it was nice seeing him and he showed me around the club. He even gathered people to have a photoshoot with me. Thank you so much Lia-san and VVIP!!
- The club base fountain party system was there. (They were the ones who invented it.)
- A huge and lively club, they put effort into their club battles, but they were also welcoming to people who were just playing for fun.
- People had fun in Discord’s voice chat during the club battles.
- They uploaded useful tips and info to their Discord.
- They used the Discord bot to notify members when world bosses showed up. Nice usage!
- If newcomers showed up in the club chat, club members provided support.
Extra: I took some fun photos with everyone, so I’ll just put them here:
On to my next club!
Maple (1 Dec – 7 Dec)
My tenth club was Maple. It was a middle-sized club led by my friend SOLA-san! Everyone there was fun-loving, so we laughed a lot in the club chat. SOLA-san usually walked around topless, so I went topless too throughout my time in Maple in the spirit of friendship!
- Maple was a really warm club! When they saw new members for the first time, people greeted them even if they were a day or two late. If they got along with you, most would quickly add friend you.
- Most people played at their own pace. There were no complicated club rules or schedule, so you were free to play as you wish.
- Everyone in the club was easy to talk to. There weren’t too many people, so the club chat was fun.
- Even when the club president wasn’t there for the club battle, members were independent, made their own teams and had fun.
Kusou Toshokan (10 Dec – 13 Dec)
I originally intended to visit only ten clubs, but since my friend Mozu-san invited me to play with him, I went to check out Kusou Toshokan (空想図書館) as my eleventh club for half a week. It was a small club that Mozu-san ran and members were nice!
- There were only a few people, but everyone was nice and we had much fun together. Small clubs really made you feel at home!
- It really felt easy to mix in if it was a small club. Mozu-san also supported all his members when they needed something.
- People helped each other out and tell tips in the club chat during in-game events.
Conclusion
And that’s the eleven clubs I visited in CDB’s Wind of Freedom server! I was happy that I got to see clubs of various sizes and the different ways their club officers ran them. I think every club had their own strengths, so it was an interesting experience and I was glad I did this trip.
By comparing notes, I understood better about where I did well and where I could improve when I was running Nidhogg. But aside from that, it was just nice to meet a lot of new people, make new friends, and play with them. Thank you so much for having me, everyone! I’ll certainly put the new things I’ve learned to good use in future!
