My Pokemon OC Zephyr the Zeraora, Rhyme’s main Pokemon and the dependable ace of Team Rhyme.

Zephyr the Zeraora

Species: Zeraora
Gender: Unknown (identifies slightly more as male)
Height: 150 cm (default Zeraora height)
Nature: Adamant

Team Rhyme member no. 3. Despite joining the team after Nini the Sylveon and Happy the Blissey, Zephyr quickly became Rhyme’s main partner as their agressive fighting style matched really well. Zephyr originally joined Team Rhyme saying that it’s only a temporary ‘alliance’ (Zephyr won’t become Rhyme’s Pokémon), until he defeats his rival Ruki the Lucario. But a. Zephyr accepted Rhyme as his Trainer and they look out for each other as they continue their adventures.

Personality

Zephyr has an Adamant Nature and loves Spicy food. Once he’s decided something, he can be quite stubborn until he fulfills it. As Rhyme’s main partner and the team’s ace, Zephyr sometimes feels pressurred, but he does his best. Being a young Zeraora, a part of him remains child-like, playful and innocent. Zephyr’s selfless and compassionate to those around him. Since he’s originally raised to be the guardian of his homeland, he’ll help anyone in need. Even so, it takes time for him to open up to others. Losing his little brother in the past, Zephyr has a soft spot for children and likes taking care of them.

Zephyr’s Past

Born at the top of Mount Frost in Kalos, Zephyr was found by Thundersnow, an older shiny Zeraora who’s the guardian of the mountains. (From the official manga: Zeraora are born fully formed from thunder with no parents.) Snow took Zephyr in as an apprentice and temporarily named him Kitten, raising him and teaching him how to be a guardian. Later on, Zephyr left Mt. Frost to travel the world and become stronger so he could be a better guardian for Snow.

After traveling by himself for a few years, Zephyr fought Ruki but was defeated horribly. Not able to forgive himself for the humiliating defeat, Zephyr joined Team Rhyme so he could have a rematch with Ruki on Aeos Island. Zephyr’s condition was that it was a temporary alliance until he defeated Ruki, but Rhyme accepted it and gave Zephyr his current name for his gentle nature. But after having gone through the highs and lows of Unite Battles together, Rhyme and Zephyr formed an unbreakable bond and Zephyr accepted Rhyme as his Trainer.

Quirks

  • Zephyr was temporarily named ‘Kitten’ by his mentor Thundersnow when he was born. He was named ‘Zephyr’ by Rhyme when they met on Aeos Island. Zephyr’s local name in Kalos and Hiverville on Mt. Frost is ‘Thunderfall’ or ‘Petit Éclair’ (Little Lightning / プチ・エクレア) in the local language.
  • Zephyr’a a global Zeraora ranker during his stay on Aeos Island, so he fights pretty well.
  • Through his Unite Battles, Zephyr developed a fighting style that relies more on speed and ambush rather than taking the enemies head on. He’s pretty good when he needs to do something that involves sneaking or infiltration.
  • Being the powerful mythical Zeraora, Zephyr refuses to get into a Poké Ball at all costs!
  • He generally doesn’t like putting on clothes even if it’s a Holowear.
  • Rhyme shares his knowledge about human culture with Zephyr from time to time, so Zephyr’s quite well-versed in them by now. He’s learned to be well-mannered and knows how to use some simple tools like eating utensils.
  • Neon thinks that Zephyr’s turning more and more into a house cat and it’s all Rhyme’s fault.
  • Like most Zeraora, Zephyr hates it if someone rubs his stomach. But since he doesn’t wake up if you rub his stomach in his sleep, Rhyme takes his chances.
  • Zephyr normally avoids catnip because he has the experience of Rhyme rubbing his stomach while he’s drunk.
