So, in October Bobotan’s husand got her into Pokémon Unite, and then Bobotan got me into it. It’s my first MOBA ever and I’ve never been a PvP person before, so I wasn’t expecting to stay for long, but…
Very unexpectedly, It seems that I had too much fun with the game and I’m now neck deep in the swamp! I think I’m here to stay for at least a year. Look forward to more Pokémon Unite content from me! (Yes, I’m super happy that the game’s official site says that it’s fine to post fanwork and screenshots as long as I’m not selling them↓)
My Prior PvP, MOBA and Pokémon Experience
In other games that I’ve played so far, PvP tends to be pay-to-win, so I usually dislike them. At first, I thought that Pokémon Unite will be like that too, so I wasn’t expecting much. So I was awesomely surprised when I tried playing it and the game was enjoyable even for free players! In Pokémon Unite, strategy and player skill matters more. I even managed to get to Master Rank (the highest rank) without tossing in a single cent! (Of course, I’ll buy Holowears and Battle Passes eventually because I want to support the creators!)
This game is also my first MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), so I found it new, interesting and challenging! I like coming up with strategies and battling other players on the go. Thanks for introducing Unite to me, Bobotan!
As for Pokémon, I’ve played and completed the Ruby-Sapphire Pokedex as a kid and loved it a lot! It’s a major reason I gave Unite a try. I heard that they’re planning to have Blaziken in the game eventually. Blaziken’s my first ever starter Pokémon and partner, so I’m really looking forward to be reunited with her! ;u;
My Current Pokémon
First MOBA, so naturally, my win rate’s questionable! I’ll work on it, though. I can say with confidence that I’m getting the hang of it and improving as I play~
As for my Pokémon, I usually go with Sylveon, Zeraora, Lucario and Blissey. I used to main Sylveon, but I’m now a Zeraora and Lucario main. For my play style, I paid particular attention to attack power and mobility, so Zeraora and Lucario are awesome and fitting! I’ve also tried defense types before, but I’m apparently a complete failure at them… (Think of a defender who continuously wants to move around and defeat enemies!)
And naturally, when you spend a lot of time fighting with your Pokémon, you start developing a bond with them. I love my four babies! My brain’s running wild making stories and character sheets for them! I’ll draw and write about them when I have time. And yes, like in Ruby, I just had to give them nicknames. So Nini (Sylveon), Zephyr (Zeraora), Ruka (Lucario) and Happy (Blissey)!
Overall, I find Pokémon Unite super fun. Certainly give it a shot if you’re interested!
