【ENDING A】 Pure Dawn

  • We’re not going to let the dragons use us!

Thinking that it was much better to die than let the dragons use them for evil, Rhyme refused to serve Eir. He tore at Eir’s soul and destroyed it with his hands which had turned into dragon claws. After Eir vanished, Rhyme asked Violu to kill him since there was no saving him now. Violu nodded and ended it quickly.

After the events of Code: Daybreak, Eir’s Nibelungen vanished and dawn and peace returned to Cassell. Everyone in Cassell and its board of directors now see the Black Swan kids not as a threat, but as trustworthy allies. They were given freedom and allowed to live with the other students in the normal dorms. Despite that, everyone was sad that they couldn’t save Rhyme. Rhyme’s ghost watched over them from the now abandoned special dorm.

【ENDING B】 Dawn of the Black Sun

  • We’ll protect those important to us, even if we have to destroy the world for it.

Having suffered the pain of losing everyone in Black Swan’s explosion, Rhyme didn’t want it to happen again. He wanted everyone to be together and be able to spend their days happily, so he told Eir to give them the power to do so by making them apostles.

Hearing that, the Black Swan kids were divided and had an argument among themselves. Eventually, Bobotan, Ugetsu, Sola, Tonic, Homura, Nijimiya, Kuronon, Apoline and Kazuto agreed with Rhyme, not wanting to let him die and wanting to stick together. Meanwhile, Kanna, Pukeko, Tiffa, Mugi, Violu, Hee-chan and Leon held strongly to justice and refused to serve Eir.

Eir laughed, saying that she didn’t need them in that case. Making a contract with Rhyme and the others, she turned them into apostles on spot and used them to destroy Cassell. Violu managed to find a secret passage to help Kanna and the others escape.

A few days later, Rhyme sat alone watching the ruins of what used to be Cassell College. The dragon slayer institution was no more, but he heard that Kanna and the others had joined Chisei in Cassell’s Japanese branch to figure out how to defeat Eir and her apostles.

As a powerful apostle, Rhyme felt safe and that there was nothing to fear. But he was sad that he had to fight his siblings. He swore to bring everyone together again one day, even if he had to destroy the world.

【ENDING C】 Dawn of Light

  • We’ll protect our friends, and also defeat the dragons!

Rhyme told Eir that he didn’t want to die, but he wouldn’t let Eir control him either. Saying that his friends would find a way to save him, Rhyme tore at Eir’s soul and destroyed it with his hands which had turned into dragon claws. After Eir vanished, everyone panicked, not knowing how to save Rhyme.

Then they noticed that they weren’t alone in this world. Just right outside Eir’s barrier, their new family stood there, eager to help—Anjou, Lu Mingfei, Chu Zihang, Caesar, Nono, Munico, and all the others. The Black Swan kids rushed to try and destroy Eir’s unbreakable barrier, like a wall that had separated the two sides’ hearts. Seeing that, Anjou and the others helped from outside.

With some effort, the barrier eventually broke down. Anjou suggested that all the Soul Dancers available work together to stop Rhyme’s time until the vaccine from the branch office arrived. One Soul Dancer can only stop time for a few seconds, but if everyone chipped in, they could buy a few hours. They did their best and managed to save Rhyme.

Once the danger had passed and Eir’s Nibelungen was lifted, everyone gathered outside the library to enjoy the sunrise together. The Black Swan kids were hailed as heroes. They laughed happily and looked forward to their new life with their new family as the students of Cassel College.

///Rhyme woke up in a strange place with a cracked hourglass. He felt as though he had come here a lot. But since he had earned his siblings’ and his own happiness, maybe he didn’t need to come here anymore. Satisfied, he smiled and left the place.///

Epilogue

  • Pukeko-san made a cute little epilogue about Iris, so I just had to chip in! The one below was written by both Pukeko-san and I. Thank you so much, Pukeko-san!

After everything was over, Pukeko went to the place where Iris died and left her flowers. She felt sad that there was no way to save Iris despite her tragic life.

That night, Iris visited Pukeko in her dreams, carrying the flowers that Pukeko gave her. She thanked Pukeko for being nice to her, happy that there’s still some kindness in the world. Iris wished Pukeko well as she left with her father.

Pukeko woke up crying, happy that Iris seemed to be alright. Kanna cheered Pukeko up.
