Read lots of tutorials and analyzed lots of existing manga to increase my base level. Also tried to suck in ideas and techniques from fields other than manga (graphic design, logo design, photography, gacha game/card game illustrations, movies, movie scripts, song lyrics, copy writing). - 25/2 – 9/2
Pre-production. Did lots of cultural research and looked for references. Wrote the entire plot, script and name (rough draft). Thanks to friends for giving me their input to get rid of plot holes and make the story more natural. Designed all the characters. - 9/3 – 21/5
Started production. Experimented with lots of story and drawing techniques that I newly learnt.
Somewhe in the middle, I redrew lots of panels, redesigned parts of all the characters’ clothes, and rewrote the entire back half because characters were behaving unnaturally and the plot derailed from the main theme. Took 3 times longer than my normal speed since I was aiming for quality!
Average pace: 1-1.5 pages per day (0.5 page if there’s a difficult picture in it.)

Completed. Fixing and redrawing some panels to increase art quality before sending it to the contest.
I had particular difficulty trying to make cool battle scenes, so I’ll learn that next.

If I win, I get prize money and will be officially published (online or in print) as a professional mangaka. (Yep, this isn’t a random for fun contest. It’s a dead serious job hunt!! Aiming for one of Japan’s biggest publishers, so this is gonna be HARD!)
Fingers crossed! Will study and improve both my story and art skills in the meantime, and get ready to make my next oneshot in case I don’t win.

Still hard at work on my fic for you, it kinda blew up into something really huge and while I’m worried I can’t deliver that kind of ambition, I will still most certainly try!
