【 Epilogue: Crystal Treasures 】
The crystal of a Terastallized Pokémon exploding into bits when they faint was like the snapshot of a great fall from grace to Rhyme. Something incredibly beautiful and powerful disappearing in the blink of an eye, turning into a helpless, pitiful heap grovelling on the ground. He felt like it mirrored his and Zephyr’s exhaustion when they first came to Paldea from Aeos Island.
But as they travelled Paldea’s lands, he saw that the Tera Orb recharges. And no matter how many times the crystal breaks, he could get back up and Terastallize his Pokémon again. He left Paldea understanding that breaking was just part of the cycle to become more beautiful.
It was Trainers Rhyme and Leo’s last day in Paldea. They had travelled the entire region, and been to the land of Kitakami. A lot of things happened and they could feel that they had grown along with their Pokémon. The two boys were now in Director Clavell’s office at Naranja Academy, saying their farewells before heading to their next destination.
“Señors, you look quite refreshed and energetic. Had a great time at Kitakami?” Clavell asked, rather pleased.
“Very! Thanks, Señor Clavell!” Rhyme replied.
“Skel~!” Fuego, Clavell’s assistant Skeledirge who had been accompanying Rhyme throughout his Paldean journey, seemed happy for him, too. Rhyme petted his head.
“Today’s your last day. You’re both exchange students here for only a short time, but it was a pleasure having you,” Clavell said. “I suppose you can mark your Treasure Hunt assignment complete now. I’ve read your reports and you have certainly learned a lot. I can also see from your faces that you’ve found not just one, but many new ‘treasures’ on your way. May they support you for the rest of your lives.”
“Thanks, Señor Clavell. We won’t forget our time here,” Rhyme said.
Clavell nodded. “Very well. The Academy wishes you luck for your next journey. Off to the Kalos Region, isn’t it?”
Rhyme and Leo nodded. Fuego seemed sad that it was time to part. Rhyme hugged him.
“Thanks for all your help, Fuego. You’ve grown a lot since we started this journey with you as a Fuecoco, and I appreciate all your help in our battles together. I’ll send you letters and snacks every once in awhile. Take care of Señor Clavell for us, alright?”
“Skel~!”
Meanwhile, Leo and Rhyme’s Zeraora, Neon and Zephyr, waited on the school building’s roof, watching their Trainers from a distance through the window of Clavell’s office.
“Next is Kalos! My homeland. I’m so excited…!!” Zephyr said, barely able to contain his excitement. “And you, Neon?”
“Hmph, fine with anything,” he said with disinterest.
“Aww, c’mon. I’ll show you around when we get there! I’m sure you’ll like it. With all the beautiful sceneries, friendly mons, nice people, tasty food and lots more~”
Zephyr was cheerful, back to his old self after being under the weather for quite some time. Neon found Zephyr’s boyish curiosity and talkativeness rather annoying, but he was relieved that the younger cat made peace with everything and was okay now.
“Also…” Zephyr started, pausing for a moment.
“Rhyme said that we’ll be going to Mount Frost so I can see Master Snow… My mentor… Since I haven’t seen him for a long time. Hope you don’t mind meeting him, too.”
Neon tilted his head listlessly, seeming to have forgotten if Zephyr ever mentioned Snow, since he wasn’t particularly interested in anything that wasn’t immediately important. Zephyr rolled his eyes, reminding him again.
“He’s a shiny Zeraora. And super strong, too! Someone very important to me, like you are, so I hope you’ll get along.”
“We’ll see when we get there, I suppose,” Neon replied, still with disinterest.
“Oh you, I’m sure it’ll be great!” Zephyr said, looking towards Clavell’s window again.
“Looks like Rhyme and Leo are done. Let’s go, shall we? To Kalos!”
