Lucario fanfic – Quest for Power (Team Ruki Origins)
【 Chapter 10: Mega 】
“Get ready, Blaziken! Mega Evolution!!”
Céline giving the command to Blaziken, her partner’s Blazikenite shone brightly, resonating with Céline’s Key Stone. A powerful purple energy swirled around Blaziken. Overflowing with strength, his form began to change.
“…..!” Ruki shielded his face with his arms to protect himself from the wind and dust whipped up by the evolution process. It was the first time he saw a Pokémon Mega Evolve. The amount of energy released and the sudden change in Blaziken’s Aura shook him to the core. His foe’s previously calm Aura suddenly became unstable and violent. Alina, Filio and everyone in the hall looked surprised themselves.
Blaziken’s body grew bigger, hot flames engulfing him and turning his feathers a scorched black and red. The feathers on his head stood up, two streams of fire bursting out from each of his wrists. He roared, awakening the primal fear in everyone’s souls with the magnitude of his voice. Céline herself tied her long blond hair into a bun above her head, balling her hands into fists and falling into a battle stance–a true Fighting-type Pokémon Trainer.
“Blaziken, you ready?! Let’s show him our full power!” she said with a grin, burning determination in her eyes.
Although visibly shaken by Blaziken and Céline’s energy, the referee got himself together, raising his arm to announce the start of the battle.
“It’s the final round! Reaaaadyyyy?!! GO!!“
Hearing the signal to start, Blaziken lunged at Ruki immediately, like a rabid beast released from his tethers. He swung a kick at the Lucario so quickly that he had no time to evade. Knocked back, Ruki fell onto the ground, quickly rolling to right his posture and getting back up. He winced in pain. That speed and power was nothing like a normal Pokémon. Céline decided to get serious.
“No mercy, Blaziken! Blaze Kick!!”
“Here I come!” Blaziken shouted, engulfing his right leg in flames. Closing his distance to Ruki faster than the eye can see, he swung his leg hard at the Lucario.
“…!! Extreme Speed!”
Ruki dashed away, barely evading the attack. Blaziken’s kick crashed against the ground with the force of a meteor, sending debris flying in all directions and knocking Ruki back. The attack was more like an explosion than a kick, leaving a huge fiery crater in the center of the stage. The audience gasped at the sheer power displayed before them. Ruki glared at Blaziken through the smoke, knowing that one strike would take him out immediately if Blaziken managed to hit him.
“What’s the matter, Lucario? Scared? I expected a finalist to do better than that!” Blaziken taunted, his previously calm and gentle personality completely replaced by a menacing one. There was madness in his eyes. Was it the effect of his Mega Evolution?
“This looks so one-sided,” Filio commented. Alina watched the battle worriedly.
“Tch,” Ruki clicked his tongue and got back up, summoning his bone scythe. For the first time, he didn’t know what to do to win, but he had to try.
“Bone Rush!” He shouted, coating his bone scythe with the Earth’s energy and slashing at Blaziken. It’s a Ground-type move, the only effective move he had against his foe. The fire rooster blocked and evaded Ruki’s slashes partially with his fighting skills.
“Double Kick!” Céline called for a counterattack.
“EAT THIS!!” Blaziken shouted at Ruki.
Ruki gasped, trying to parry the attack with his bone scythe. But Blaziken kicked the weapon aside, immediately following with another kick straight to his cheek. It felt as though an Electrode had just used Self Destruct and exploded in his face. The powerful impact threw him across the stage and he crashed hard onto the ground on the other side.
“Ruki!” Alina shouted.
“Ugh…” Using his scythe to support himself, the Lucario struggled to get up, spitting out some blood. It was jarring and his vision blurred as he choked and gasped for air. If he had taken the hit from both kicks, he’d certainly have lost consciousness. Unforgiving, Blaziken was soon in front of him again for another attack.
“Fire Punch!” Céline shouted, swinging her fist forward. Connected to her by their powerful bond, Blaziken followed. He engulfed his fist in flames and swung it forward as if he was one with his Trainer.
“DIE!!” Blaziken yelled.
Ruki did his best to block the punch with his scythe, but Blaziken was too fast and powerful.
The rooster’s flaming fist broke Ruki’s scythe into bits. It slammed straight into his jaw, sending him flying with an uppercut. Blaziken then swung his leg upwards, hooking Ruki in his stomach and smashing him down to the ground, crushing the floor with an explosion. The audience gasped. Ruki choked, feeling all the air knocked out of him. He coughed in pain, his Steel body overheating from the fiery attack.
Blaziken withdrew his leg, watching the Lucario’s helpless form.
“Surprised that that didn’t take you out, but that’s alright,” Blaziken said, raising his leg again, “More fun for me!”
“Heh… A creature’s the most powerful when they’re about to die,” Ruki said with a smirk, “Don’t think that… I’ll be defeated so easily!!”
Blaziken flinched when a powerful blue black Aura suddenly burst out of Ruki. The Lucario roared, gathering all his Aura in his palms to create a giant bone scythe.
“Wh-What?!” Blaziken exclaimed in disbelief. Alina and Filio looked on in surprise.
“I-It’s the new move Ruki was learning at the Cuore Temple Ruins!” Alina exclaimed.
“REVERSAL!!”
With all his strength, Ruki swung the giant scythe at Blaziken. The rooster roared painfully as he felt the full force of Ruki’s Aura slash him, knocking him back. “Blaziken!” Céline shouted.
“W-What?!” The commentator exclaimed in surprise, “Reversal, a move that becomes more powerful the more wounded you are! He’s turning the tide of the battle!”
“Ruki…” Alina said, “He really prepared this move for difficult opponents!”
“Well, it certainly came in handy!” Filio commented.
Blaziken was down on one knee. Panting, he tried to get back up but couldn’t, having overexerted his body in his Mega form. Ruki seized his chance. He gathered all the energy around him, forming a giant Aura ball in his hand. The audience gasped as the sphere got bigger and bigger, its powerful glow painting the entire hall a bright blue.
“AURA SPHERE!!” Ruki shouted, unleashing all the focused energy at Blaziken.
A large explosion. Céline and everyone in the hall shielded their eyes from the blinding flash. Once the Aura Sphere vanished, everyone opened their eyes again, nervous to see what happened. Blaziken laid on the ground there, smoke coming out of his feathers as his flames burnt out. The rooster released a whirlwind of purple energy as he reverted back to his original form.
“Blaziken!” Céline shouted worriedly.
“……” Ruki fell to his hands and knees, gasping for air and drenched in sweat. The battle squeezed out all the energy in him and he could barely stay awake. His body felt as though it was going to melt.
“Monsieur… Ruki…” Blaziken called out, his voice hoarse and weak as he struggled to lift his head up to look at Ruki. “That was… a good fight. I hope I didn’t disappoint you…”
“Hmph, far from it,” Ruki said, “I finally got to see what I came all the way here for. You were terrifying.”
“Really? I’m glad… Thanks… for fighting with me,” Blaziken replied, before closing his eyes and dropping his head, losing consciousness.
“You did well, Blaziken. Thank you,” Céline said, returning him to his Poké Ball.
She looked at Ruki. “Wow, that was unexpected! But you won it fair and square, and I got to see the heart and will of a true fighter. Thanks for showing us a good battle, Team Ruki!”
“Blaziken is unable to battle!” The referee declared, “The winner is Ruki!”
“Our challenger did it!” The commentator cheered, “We have our winner for the Kiloude Christmas Tournament! Teeeaaaam Ruki!! Thank you to Madame Céline for the wonderful battle, and to all the participants for setting this Battle Mansion on fire tonight!”
With that, a joyful music played. Golden confetti rained down to congratulate the winner and participants. The audience cheered and clapped, inspired by the display of incredible battles. Alina and Filio rushed to Ruki’s side to help him up. The staff then guided them to the middle of the stage where the Battle Chatelaine, the leader of the Battle Maison, presented them with their prizes.
“Here’s the Star of Kiloude. It’s our city’s symbol of hope. May it light your path and bring you comfort in the darkest nights,” the Battle Chatelaine wished them, handing the star to Ruki in a small glass case. “Congratulations, Team Ruki! May you have many victories ahead of you!”
Ruki, Alina and Filio stared at the star in wonder. It was their first accomplishment as a team, so it felt special. Ruki smiled and raised it above his head proudly. Everyone in the hall erupted into joyful cheers and applause, chanting their team’s name with excitement.
“Team Ruki! Team Ruki! Team Ruki!”
The noise died down once the tournament officially ended. Crowds of people and Pokémon slowly filed out of the Battle Maison to make their way home, worn out after the night’s fiery event. Ruki’s team was among them, already fully healed by the tournament’s staff. Before they left, they heard Céline calling out to them.
“Heeeyyy! Monsieur Ruki!”
Ruki, Alina and Filio stopped and turned to look. Céline ran towards them, waving at them with Blaziken following right behind her. She panted to catch her breath once she caught up to them. She then looked up and grinned.
“Happy to be able to catch you! We want to congratulate you properly. Congrats again for winning and thanks for fighting us! The three of you were amazing!” The Trainer said, sticking out a hand to Ruki for a handshake.
“Heh, pleasure’s mine,” Ruki said, shaking her hand.
“Whew! That was the second time a wild Pokémon managed to defeat me. I need to work harder!” Céline said, wiping the sweat from her brow, but her eyes shone with excitement. “That was fun, though! Fight me again some time!”
“You were formidable yourself. One wrong step and we’d have lost,” Ruki said, “And second time? I can’t imagine your Mega Blaziken losing to just any wild Pokémon. Who did you fight?”
“Oh!” Céline replied, trying to recall her battle.
“It was a wild encounter during a holiday in northeastern Kalos. I ran into the local legend of Mount Frost, a Zeraora called Thundersnow, so I challenged him to a spar. He was strong, like, crazy strong!” The Trainer made a scary face and curled her fingers like a cat’s paws. “Locals there say that he’s the guardian of the mountains. If you like battles, it’ll be interesting to find and challenge him!”
“Thundersnow, huh?” Ruki mused, but then shook his head. “Sadly, I’m heading northwest after this, so I won’t be passing this Mount Frost… But anyway, what’s a Zeraora?”
“O-Oh! Right,” Céline realized, so she explained it to Ruki.
“A Zeraora’s a large cat-like Pokémon born of thunder. Since they’re Mythical Pokémon, not many people know of their existence. I didn’t myself until I met Thundersnow. They’re really fast and powerful! I hope that you get to meet one someday.”
Ruki frowned, immediately feeling sick to the stomach as he listened to Céline’s story. A Pokémon born of thunder, his mortal enemy? How dare such a creature exists?! He recalled the number of times he had cursed at the thunderstorms for scaring him as a child, for tormenting him during his sleepless nights in Team Hope’s lab, for always bringing him nightmares throughout this entire accursed journey…
The night when Machop died, it was storming, too. He’ll always remember the taunts and laughter of the roaring thunder while he grovelled painfully in the mud below.
The Lucario was suddenly overcome with a murderous intent. But not wanting to let Céline down, he hid his disgust.
“Maybe one day,” he said begrudgingly, forcing himself to remain calm.
“Well, I’ve kept you here long enough. You must be tired!” Céline laughed. “I wish you luck, Monsieur! And to your team, too. Thanks for this encounter and may your next battles go smoothly!”
“Good luck to you too, Céline,” Ruki replied.
Céline waved at the trio and left. Blaziken gave them a little salute with a smile, before following his Trainer. Ruki watched them disappear into the crowds in Kiloude’s streets. He then turned to Alina and Filio.
“Come. Time to go to our next destination,” he said, walking ahead, “To Mega Island.”
In contrast to the loud noises and fiery battles in Kiloude’s Battle Maison, the snowy Kalosian countryside was calm and peaceful at night. A single train moved through the wide expanse of white fields and farmlands, its engine humming quietly. In the train, Ruki held the tournament reward, the Star of Kiloude, to the light, watching its warm glow.
He had taken Alina and Filio with him right after the tournament, using the prize money to book a train to Shalour City. Their trip was going to be a long overnight one as the train had to cross the entire region from the south to the north, passing through Kalos’ capital, Lumiose City, before arriving at Shalour. There, they’d have to look for another ride to cross the ocean to Mega Island. Their train was a two-floored bullet train made for long distance trips, with seats for two facing each other and a table in the middle. As it was late at night, there weren’t many people in it. The trio had one corner all to themselves to rest and recover.
“Oh, this chair’s quite comfortable!” Filio said, stretching out across the wide seat on one side of the table. “I’ll have a gooood sleep tonight! Kind of weird for us wild Pokémon to be riding in this train thing, but it sure is convenient! We’re moving so fast!”
“You’re right,” Alina agreed with him, watching the scenery outside the window just fly past them in a blur. She felt Ruki nudge her to catch her attention, so she looked at him.
“You wanted this, right?” Ruki asked, offering Kiloude’s star jewel to her, “Take it.”
“H-Huh? Me?” Alina stuttered, “But you fought the hardest for it! And Filio helped, too!”
“I meant to win it for you from the start,” Ruki said.
“Yeah, keep it, sis,” Filio said, showing her the gold rings around his horn and wrist, “Already have lots of shinies hanging on me. It’ll look better on you.”
“Oh…” Alina blushed a little, happy at her companions’ kindness. “If you don’t mind, then.”
Ruki smiled at her. “Come here.”
The Tsareena leaned in. Ruki attached the star to the top of her crown stalk.
“There. Fits your pretty face.”
“Oh, you.” Alina giggled, looking at her reflection in the window. “It’s Team Ruki’s first accomplishment, so I’ll wear it proudly!”
Ruki and Filio smiled at her. They leaned back on the soft seats and closed their eyes, getting ready to sleep.
The train travelled smoothly across Kalos, making a brief stop at Lumiose City, Kalos’ capital, early in the morning. Filio yawned as he exited the train with Ruki and Alina, transferring to their next train to head to Shalour City. It was similar to their previous train, also relatively empty due to the time. The trio settled down on their seats. For breakfast, they snacked on the Pokémon food that they’d bought with the remaining prize money. Filio watched the passing landscape outside the window.
“I didn’t expect us to reach northern Kalos this quickly. Human transports are really something,” Filio commented, “We’ll reach Shalour City and Mega Island in no time like this.”
“Yeah,” Ruki said, before looking at Alina and Filio. “We’re close to the end of this journey. I’ll probably keep travelling somewhere else after that. The two of you aren’t obliged to follow me, so what’ll you do?”
“Huh?!”
The sudden question surprised his companions. Filio thought for a moment and spoke up first.
“Well, not like Mount Attuna’s inhabitants will welcome me back after what I did. I’ll just follow you around, so I hope you don’t hate me.” The Absol shrugged. He looked at Alina, passing her the ball.
“H-Huh? That question’s so sudden!” She panicked, not knowing what to say.
“We can escort you back to your region, if you want,” Ruki suggested, “Don’t you want to start working on rebuilding Roza? Maybe we can plant some trees in the place where the forest was burnt.”
“I’d love to, but…” The Tsareena seemed hesitant, looking to the ground. “We just got together as ‘Team Ruki’… Is this all just going to end?”
“Don’t worry,” Ruki told her, “Don’t let that chain you to us. Do what you feel is right and what makes you happy.”
“……” The Tsareena imagined being separated from Ruki and Filio, probably never seeing them again. Filio who joined in to comfort her. Ruki who took her in and gave her a new home. Ruki who always kept her warm whenever she was cold…
She hugged the Lucario’s arm gently and leaned on his shoulder.
“I don’t think I’m ready to leave yet… Let me stay for awhile longer, Ruki?”
“……” Ruki looked surprised, but he smiled at her gently, patting her head. “Okay.”
Alina looked satisfied. Filio laughed at them.
“Aww, such a lovey dovey couple! Hahaha!” He joked, before addressing Ruki.
“Looks like we’ll still be sticking around together. I wanna know you better, so tell me boss, why are you looking for a Lucarionite? Just for fun like me, or do you have someone you wanna fight?”
Ruki frowned, his mood always worsening when he was reminded of that question.
“I just want to get stronger for… personal reasons.”
Filio tilted her head at Alina, expecting her to elaborate, but she shook her head.
“He never told me, either,” she said. The Absol sighed.
“Huge secret, huh? Oh well,” he said, “But since we’re ‘Team Ruki’ now, if you need to punch someone, just tell us and we’ll help. Right, sis?”
“Of course!” Alina nodded, looking at Ruki with confidence. “We’ll be your ally no matter what happens!”
“…I’m grateful,” Ruki said softly as he gripped the fur on his knees, somewhat touched. He started this journey thinking that it’d be a long and lonely road, so having Alina and Filio join him was quite a surprise, but not an unwelcome one.
The three sat together quietly as the train moved on, appreciating the warmth of each other’s company.
It was midday by the time they arrived in Shalour City. The trio made their way to the beach immediately, scanning the horizons for Mega Island.
“Hard to believe that we’re at the doorstep now,” Ruki said a little nervously, holding his Mega Badge as the cold sea winds whipped his black cloak around. He turned to Filio.
“So, where’s this Mega Island? How do we get there?”
“You can’t see it from here,” the Absol said, before explaining.
“But many Water-type and Flying-type Pokémon travel back and forth between this beach and Mega Island often, drawn by instinct to look for their own Mega Stones. As you know, each Pokémon needs a different Mega Stone to evolve, so as long as they’re not an Absol or a Lucario, they won’t view us as competition. Maybe someone can offer us a ride. A Mega Stone for Tsareena had never been discovered yet, so they’d probably be okay with Alina, too.”
“Sounds good,” Ruki said, walking ahead and scanning the coast, “Let’s look for someone, then.”
The trio walked along the shore, asking every Pokémon they met if they know anyone who was planning to go to Mega Island. Eventually, they ran into a Salamence and a Pidgeot who were quarrelling with each other.
“You said that you knew the way to Mega Island, but you’ve made us fly in circles for DAYS!” Pidgeot yelled angrily, pecking at Salamence.
“Argh! Better than you! At least I know its general direction. You don’t even know anything!” Salamence protested, swatting at Pidgeot with his large dragon wing.
“Just the general direction’s not enough, you FOOL! I want the EXACT location!!” Pidgeot screeched.
“Hey, hold up, you two,” Ruki interrupted.
“What is it, Lucario?! Can’t you see that we’re busy?!” Salamence snapped at him furiously.
“If it’s Mega Island, my Absol friend here knows where it is,” Ruki replied, pointing at Filio with his thumb, “You give us a ride and we tell you the way. How about that?”
Salamence and Pidgeot froze in surprise, amazed that the information they were looking for was suddenly served to them on a silver platter. They looked at each other for a moment, blinking in disbelief, before finally nodding in agreement.
“Fine, show us the way, Lucario!” Salamence grumbled.
“But if you get us lost, we’ll drop you into the sea!” Pidgeot said in annoyance. Filio walked forward to address them.
“Huh, fine by me,” he said, “But let’s wait until nightfall since it’s easier to get there that way. Rest your wings until then. It’ll be a long flight.”
Following Filio’s suggestion, everyone was on standby, waiting for the sun to set. Ruki’s trio had split up to gather berries for their stay on Mega Island. According to Filio, the island had a harsh environment, so it’d be better to gather their food before they leave. Ruki walked around the beach, looking for mainly Oran and Sitrus Berries since he expected some battles ahead. He found an Oran Berry tree and was just harvesting it, when he suddenly heard someone clapping behind him.
“Well done, Ruki. I’m impressed!”
The familiar voice sent a chill down Ruki’s spine. He turned to look. There, leaning in the shadows of a palm tree, was the mysterious Pokémon in the white hooded cloak. Just when he had begun to forget about him, the creepy stranger decided to show up again. He praised the Lucario.
“You put up such an amazing show at Battle Maison. To be able to defeat a Mega Evolved Pokémon without Mega Evolving yourself! It’s incredible! And now, you’re so close to getting your own Mega Stone… Ah, I really wonder how much stronger you’ll become!”
Without replying, Ruki summoned his bone scythe. He dashed right next to the stranger with Extreme Speed, slashing at him to remove his cloak. But to his surprise, the other managed to evade him completely, landing safely on the sand some distance away.
“Oops! That’s not so nice of you, now. Hehe,” the stranger chuckled.
“That speed and reflex… You’re not a normal wild Pokémon,” Ruki pointed his scythe at him threateningly, “Who are you and what do you want?! Why are you following me?!”
“As I said, just a curious fan who wants to see you flourish.”
The stranger patted his cloak to clean off the dust, tidying it. Ruki growled in frustration, still not sensing any lies or evil from the hooded Pokémon’s Aura. Even so, it wasn’t a kind and benevolent Aura, either. It was completely blank and neutral. Ruki couldn’t tell what the hooded Pokémon was thinking at all, so it gnawed at him.
“Alina and Filio weren’t random encounters,” Ruki said, “If you followed me all the way here, you must’ve led me to them on purpose. Why?”
“Oh? Simply because they’re the strongest in the area and they look like they can beat you. You’re known for never losing a battle, right? So seeing your limits is of great interest to me. Hehehe,” the stranger answered.
“Besides, it seems that you won and even befriended them. Isn’t it wonderful for you too, Ruki? You should thank me.”
“Tch, stop fooling around. Show me your face!” Ruki ordered.
“Hm? I’m afraid I can’t do that. Would be a shame to scare you with my looks.” The other chuckled. “I know I might bother you, but worry not. I hung around only because I want to see you succeed in this journey. I’ll leave you alone after you get your Lucarionite. Until then, let me be your loyal observer. Don’t lose, Reaper of the Battlefield.”
The hooded Pokémon tossed something at Ruki. The Lucario caught it and looked at it.
A Chesto Berry.
When he looked back at the hooded stranger, as usual, he was suddenly gone. Ruki sighed. He hoped that they’d finish their business at Mega Island quickly so he didn’t have to deal with his stalker anymore. Keeping the Chesto Berry, he went to regroup with the others since the sun was beginning to set.
Nightfall. Once the moon rose, everyone took off for Mega Island, flying over the calm black seas under the moonlight. Filio rode on Salamence’s back, leading the way. Ruki and Alina followed behind on Pidgeot’s back. Filio told Salamence which direction to fly to with such confidence that the dragon felt safe listening to him.
“You don’t look like you’re from around here, Absol. How did you know the way?” Salamence asked curiously.
“Been there once, when I was small,” Filio said.
“But that’s such a long time ago!” Pidgeot chirped, “How did you still remember by just visiting it once?!”
Filio looked up to the sky.
“The stars.”
Ruki and Alina looked up as well. Stars were sprinkled like silver dust across the entire expanse of the night sky. It was a beautiful sight, some stars sparkling brighter than the others. Many humans and Pokémon certainly used them when traveling, both at sea and on land. They were good, unchanging pointers. Filio seemed quite wistful as he reminisced his childhood.
“My home Mount Attuna is a large mountain with maze-like forests, so it’s very easy to get lost. My sister and I would always look up at the starry skies whenever we needed to find our way back home,” he explained, “Mega Island’s a mysterious island shrouded in mist and mystery, so it’s not easy to find even if you have a Nosepass with you and scan the oceans with your eyes. But, if you look up and follow the brightest star in the night sky, you’ll eventually find it.”
“Ah, never knew that,” Salamence said, “That’s really dependable if it’s true.”
“Yeah.” Pidgeot nodded.
“Be glad that I’m here with you, then!” Filio laughed.
The group flew smoothly across the sea for awhile, but eventually, dark clouds covered the sky. Rain began to fall as gales blew and visibility worsened.
“Ugh! What’s this? A sudden storm?!” Salamence growled as cold rain whipped across his face.
“Are we still flying in the right direction?!” Pidgeot asked for confirmation.
“We are!” Filio shouted over the howl of the strong winds, “I remembered dark clouds swirling around Mega Island, but not a whole storm like this. Still I think we’re on the right track! Keep flying straight!
A sudden bright flash blinded everyone, a loud roar deafening them. A powerful bolt of thunder tore through the night skies like a great blue dragon crashing down to earth, almost striking the group.
“What in the world–?!” Pidgeot screeched in terror, barely evading the thunderbolt. “You’re telling me this is a thunderstorm now?!”
Shaken by the thunder, Ruki grit his teeth, his fur standing up as he tried to remain calm.
“Ruki…!” Alina, who was sitting behind him, held him tighter in an attempt to comfort him.
“Argh! We’ll die if we keep flying in a weather like this!!” Salamence complained, “Hang on tight, all of you! Pidgeot and I will fly at full speed to reach Mega Island faster!”
“Yeah! Hold on well!” Pidgeot warned, “Don’t blame us if you fall off mid-flight!”
“Wha–?!”
Filio didn’t have a chance to finish his sentence when the dragon and the bird suddenly increased their flying speed sharply. Filio’s screams drowned by the heavy rain and howling winds, the trio hung onto Salamance and Pidgeot for dear life. Shooting across the stormy skies like meteorites, they made their way to the large island that was beginning to come into view.
Trivia
- The train is based on France’s SNCF train. Many trains in France will usually pass through Paris (Lumiose City) when going to a different region in the country.
- Finding Mega Island using a star is my own invention (not official lore).
